River Bend Nature Center offers rental of its buildings and facilities on a limited basis when they are not in use for River Bend programs and events. Descriptions of the facilities available are below, please contact us for rental fees and availability by phone at 507.332.7151.

Facility Features

Location: Adjacent to main parking lot.

Capacity: 100 (handicapped accessible)

Amenities:

  • Kitchenette with sink, microwave, fridge/freezer;
  • Bathrooms and drinking fountains;
  • Tables & chairs available;
  • Moveable displays to accommodate your group;
  • Heated and air conditioned.

Availability: Year Round

Cost: $250 per half day


Trailside Center

Facility Features

Location: South of main parking lot, about 100 yards.

Capacity: Indoors 50 (handicapped accessible)

Amenities:

  • Bathrooms and drinking fountains;
  • Tables & chairs available;
  • Water and electricity available;
  • Covered outside patio;
  • Large lawn adjacent to the building;
  • Picnic tables & area outside.

Availability: Spring, summer (very limited), & fall.

Notes: Easy access to trails; great for staging outdoor events; no heat or air conditioning.

Cost: $100 per day; $50 per day for nonprofit organizations.


Kay Janky Amphitheater

Facility Features

Location: Behind Interpretive Center

Capacity: 90 (handicapped accessible)

Amenities:

  • Seating on terraces (you are welcome to supply your own lawn furniture or pads);
  • Campfires allowed, firepit available;
  • Electricity available, no water;
  • Bathrooms in nearby Interpretive Center.

Availability: Spring, summer, fall. Winter depending on conditions and snow cover.


Canoe-In Campsite

River Bend has a designated campsite for use by those canoeing down the Straight River. It is available on a first come, first serve basis (no reservations) but sees only infrequent use. While there is no charge for camping, donations made to River Bend Nature Center are encouraged.

Facility Features

Location: Along the Straight River, for exact location see DNR Straight River information & map

Amenities:

  • Two picnic tables;
  • Fire ring;
  • Direct river access.

Notes: The campsite itself is roomy, plus is located adjacent to a prairie so offers lots of camping space; just off River Bend's trail system; no restrooms, no potable water supply, no electricity or phone nearby, and cell service may be unreliable. Not accessible by vehicle, canoe- or hike-in only.
